Police say they arrested one of the robbers, who drove his acquaintance before attacking him and robbing him.
A Westbury man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with robbing an acquaintance of his in Roosevelt.
According to police, at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, a 42-year-old man got into a car driven by Ayman Hubud, 23, of Westbury, who the man knew, and two other men he didn't know. Hubud drove to the intersection of Meyer Street and Eeast Greenwich Street, police say, and then took out a box cutter and told the victim he was going to be robbed.
The victim opened the door and tried to flee, police say, but all three men caught him and assaulted him by kicking and punching him. Police say the men stole his backpack, cell phone, cash and medication. They then got back into the car and drove off in an unknown direction.
