Vehicle Fire Investigated In North Merrick
It comes a day after an explosive device was lit on a nearby block the day before, police said.

NORTH MERRICK, NY — Police are investigating a vehicle fire that took place Monday morning in North Merrick.
The unknown person poured a flammable liquid on a vehicle that was parked on Van Nostrand Avenue, detectives said. The fire ensued and the person fled on foot, authorities said.
The owner of the 2016 black Cadillac Escalade was able to extinguish the fire with a garden hose before the North Merrick Fire Department arrived.

It comes a day after, police said, a man threw an explosive device at a North Merrick home, causing flames to a parked car. There's no confirmation from police that the incidents are connected.
