2. Merokean Finds 238-Year-Old Headstone: According to Newsday, history buff and Merokean Charlie Rubin stumbled upon something strange right outside his daughter's front door – a 238 year-old headstone that was missing from a local cemetary for more than three years.

1. Police news: Merrick was chock full of police news this week. It started on Sunday with a jetski accident and continued Monday as police nabbed a suspect in a watch theft who posed as an employee for a Merrick company. On Tuesday, police notified the public that three were wanted after breaking into the Verizon store on Sunrise Highway, while on Wednesday, it was reported that a woman was arrested after leaving the scene of an accident. A bomb threat at the Merrick LIRR station rounded out the week on Thursday.
