South Merrick Probes NCPD Deputy Commissioner: As time is running out to fight – or even get answers about – the impending Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) changes, the South Merrick Community Civic Association (SMCAA) recently hosted deputy comissioner Thomas Krumpter to address the concerns of the residents.
2. A Brentwood man started a garage fire at a Merrick home, also setting parts of the home as well as a vehicle on fire. Two firefighters from the Merrick Fire Department were treated at area hospitals and released because of the incident.

1. Nassau Cops Indicted on Charges Stemming from 2009 Kennedy Robbery: Three former top Nassau County Police officials were indicted by a grand jury Thursday morning on charges that they conspired to and intentionally prevented the arrest of a Merrick teenager whose father was a financial benefactor of the police, the Nassau County District Attorney's office says. According to multiple reports, Zachary Parker of Merrick, now 20, was charged with stealing more than $3,000 worth of computers after he allegedly broke into Kennedy High School in 2009.
