N.J. man among 3 charged in online child sex sting (nj.com subscription) — Middletown authorities have charged a New Jersey man with attempted rape and attempted endangering the welfare of a child after an online sting involving undercover detectives posing as minors. Two other New York men also face related charges, and state police are urging anyone with information or possible victimization to contact their Middletown-based Troop F headquarters.
   

2. Arianna Rodriguez named SUNY Orange Student Trustee (midhudsonnews.com) — SUNY Orange in Middletown has sworn in Arianna Rodriguez as the new student trustee, giving local students a direct voice on the college’s Board of Trustees through June 2027. Rodriguez, an honors student and Florida resident, will represent more than 4,500 students at board meetings and community events while pursuing her pre-law studies.
   

3. Four drivers hurt in collision on I-84 in the Town of Montgomery (recordonline.com) — A Middletown driver and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on I-84 in the Town of Montgomery, with patients taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown and Westchester Medical Center. State police say the Middletown driver showed signs of impairment and now faces a DWI charge and traffic violations, with a court appearance set for October.
   

4. Community Spirit Shines Bright at Pine Bush High School Pantry Unveiling (pinebushschools.org) — A Middletown appliance store played a key role in expanding Pine Bush High School’s food pantry, donating a new freezer and repair parts so grant funds could instead boost the student backpack program. With this support, the program expects to feed 97 students this year, and the pantry has already distributed tens of thousands of meals to local families.
