Police Release ID Of Man Struck By Train In Hudson Valley: UPDATE

Police said the man's body was found near a trestle of the Amtrak Empire Service line.

STOCKPORT, NY — State police have identified the man who was killed when a train struck him in Columbia County. David C. Soka, 51, of Austerlitz, was identified as the deceased.

Police said the preliminary investigation found that the manner of his death was "consistent with suicide."

Troopers were sent to Station Road in the Town of Stockport around 10:30 a.m. March 26 by Columbia 911.

Soka's body was found near the Stockport trestle on the Amtrak Empire Service line, north of the City of Hudson.

State police were assisted by the Stockport Fire Department, Stottville Fire Department, Amtrak Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff's Office and Amtrak National Railroad Passenger Corporation.
