1 Killed, 4 Injured In Rollover Crash In Hudson Valley

Three of the passengers in the back seat were ejected from the car.

MAMAKATING, NY — State police are investigating a crash that killed one person and injured four others. Around 11:40 p.m. Sept. 1, a 2008 Honda Civic, driven by Sayra Lemus, 22, of Fallsburg, was traveling east on State Route 17, east of Exit 112 in the Town of Mamakating, Sullivan County.

Witnesses said that an unidentified vehicle crossed over into the lane in which the Honda Civic was traveling.

Lemus took evasive action to avoid the other vehicle and lost control of her car on the south shoulder of the roadway.

The car rolled over, ejecting three of the four passengers.

Omar Espinoza, 23, of Fallsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lemus was taken to Orange Medical Center with minor injuries.

The other three passengers were taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital and Orange Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

State police are asking anyone with information regarding this accident to call State Police at Liberty at 845-292-6600.
