100 Headstones Damaged In Hudson Valley Cemetery

Police are examining surveillance video in order to find out who may have caused the damage.

NEW WINDSOR, NY — About 100 headstones and other property were damaged over the weekend at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor. Authorities said the vandalism occurred between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning at the cemetery located at the intersection of Routes 94 and 9W.

Police are asking for the public's help in ID'ing whoever was responsible, the Times Herald-Record reported.

The cemetery's Superintendent Harry Coolidge told FIOS1 News that he'd never seen anything like the vandalism in the more than 30 years he's worked at the Roman Catholic cemetery.

Former cemetery supervisor Harry Birch said he had seen three teens entering the grounds Saturday night, according to FIOS1 News.
