2 LI Residents Arrested In Dutchess County On Drug Charges: Police

PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — Two Long Islanders were arrested May 8 following a traffic stop and were charged with drug possession. State Police said Daniel H. Balmer, 21, and Brianna M. Antonawich, 21, were stopped while traveling north on the Taconic State Parkway in Pleasant Valley when the driver, which was Balmer, was seen not wearing a seatbelt.

Troopers detected an odor of marijuana allegedly coming from the vehicle.

An investigation found that Balmer allegedly had cocaine and marijuana, and Antonawich allegedly had marijuana, cocaine, concentrated cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms, police said.

Antonawich was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Balmer was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

They were arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,500 bond.

Antonawich and Balmer are scheduled to reappear in court May 18.
