3 Homemade Explosives Found In Hudson Valley Home: Sheriff
Aleksey Titov, 37, is facing several charges after authorities found three homemade explosive devices in his Chester home.
CHESTER, NY — A 37-year-old Chester man was taken into custody Friday night after authorities found three homemade explosive devices in his home, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Saturday.
The man, Aleksey Titov, is facing charges including multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree after authorities found three intact incendiary devices and "numerous materials consistent with fabricating homemade Improvised Explosive Devices," according to the release.
After authorities found the first device during a search of the apartment late Friday night, they secured the location and began evacuating the surrounding apartments before the Rockland County Sheriff's Office Bomb Disposal Unit arrived.

Once the home was deemed safe to reenter, authorities discovered a loaded firearm, four loaded magazines, approximately 17 grams of psychedelic mushrooms, and a ballistic vest, the sheriff's office said.
In addition to the homemade explosives charges, Titov is facing one count of criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony, for the loaded gun.

Titov was arraigned and released "on his own recognizance" to return to the Village of Chester court later as these offenses are not bail-eligible, authorities said.
Custody of Titov was turned over to the Town of Haverstraw Police Department for an outstanding warrant, according to authorities. Additional charges are pending as the investigation is ongoing.
"The safety of the community, residents, and our officers was the priority here," Sheriff Paul Arteta said. " ... If you see something, say something. Report any suspicious activity immediately to law enforcement."
