12-Year-Old Found Safe, AMBER Alert Canceled
The man accused of abducting her was arraigned earlier Friday.

UPDATE: Malaya Johnson has been found safe, the Washington County Sheriff's Office reported.
The man accused of abducting the 12-year-old, a Staten Island 19-year-old, was arraigned earlier Friday.

A second charge, of kidnapping, was added. He was sent to the Washington County Correctional Facility with no bail, the Washington County Sheriff said.

HUDSON FALLS, NY — A New York City man has been arrested in connection with the abduction of a still-missing 12-year-old girl. George A. Torres of Staten Island, 19, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Investigators are still looking for Malaya, who was last seen near the Staten Island Ferry Terminal on Thursday between 4 and 6 p.m., authorities said.

The New York Police Department found a red Ford mustang believed to have been used in her abduction.
*AMBER UPDATE** THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECOVERED BY NYPD. THE CHILD IS STILL MISSING AND BELIEVED TO BE IN DANGER. SHE WAS LAST SEEN IN THE AREA OF THE STATEN ISLAND FERRY BETWEEN 4PM AND 6 PM ON 09/27/18.
Malaya is a black female with long, brown hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 5-feet tall and weighs about 115 pounds. Malaya was last seen wearing light red jeans and a white tank top, carrying a light colored backpack with a design.
According to the alert, the child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that she is in imminent danger of serious physical injury and/or death. Anyone with any information on this abduction is asked to call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at (866)N Y S-AMBER or dial 911 to provide information on a report or sighting.
