3 Injured In Accident On I-87 In Saugerties Monday: UPDATE

The accident scene was cleared and all lanes have reopened.

SAUGERTIES, NY — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday in the Town of Saugerties. State police were dispatched to the area of exits 20 and 21 of I-87 southbound around 12:36 p.m. The preliminary investigation found that heavy southbound traffic on I-87 was slowing or coming to a complete stop due to a property damage accident.

A van-type vehicle struck the rear end of another vehicle that had stopped in traffic.

A passenger in the van was seriously injured and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center.

Two other people were taken to Kingston Hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
