Pedestrian Struck And Killed By Amtrak Train At Station Is Identified As 68-Year-Old Woman

She stepped onto the train tracks at the Rhinebeck station moments before she was struck by the passenger train, according to police.

RHINEBECK, NY — A tragedy at a Hudson Valley train station has left a woman dead.

On Saturday, at 7:46 a.m., New York State Police in Rhinebeck responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train at the Rhinecliff Train Station on Rhinecliff Road.

Investigators said a 68-year-old woman stepped onto the train tracks and was then struck by an Amtrak train.The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

NYSP said the investigation into the death remains ongoing.
