Arrest In Bus Assault On The New York State Thruway
The charges include attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — An Albany resident faces several charges in connection with a fight between two bus passengers headed to NYC on the New York State Thruway.
State police were called to Interstate 87 at 7 p.m. Aug. 26. The commercial bus driver pulled onto the shoulder of the Thruway when the fight began. There were about 30 passengers on board, police said.
Both men were injured during the fight. The alleged victim was treated on the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

On Sept. 2, New York State police arrested Maleek U. Phillips, 37.
He was then indicted by a grand jury on charges of Attempted Murder 2nd, Assault 1st, Assault 2nd, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Phillips was arraigned in front of Justice Anika Mohammed in Newburgh city court and sent to Orange County Jail.
