Astor Home Staffer Accused Of Throwing Child To Ground

The Astor Home for Children and Families is in Rhinebeck.

RHINEBECK, NY — A staff member at the Astor Home for Children and Families in Rhinebeck was arrested May 8 for allegedly throwing a child to the ground. State police said Samara Nesheiwat, 24, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

Police went to the Astor Home, located on Mill Street in the village, for a report of a staff member using physical force with one of the home’s clients.

The investigation found Nesheiwat threw a child who was less than 13 years old to the ground.

She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Rhinebeck Court May 10.
