ATF Offers Reward For Information About Fatal Shooting Of Cabbie
The taxi driver was found dead in the street near his cab after being robbed and shot by a group of men on Thursday, Newburgh police said.
NEWBURGH, NY — The ATF is offering a reward for information about the killing of a taxi driver at the hands of a group of armed men in what police are calling a violent robbery.
The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives is now offering a cash reward of $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the men who shot and killed Jorge Arbayza De La Cruz of Newburgh.
The 51-year-old from Peru was found lying in the street on North Miller Street near his taxi just before 9 p.m. on Thursday after police were dispatched to a call of shots fired. Police said De La Cruz was on-duty and driving a cab for Express Taxi at the time of his death.

Newburgh City Police Detectives are leading the homicide investigation. The New York State Police, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the ATF are assisting with the case.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about the incident is asked to call the City of Newburgh Police Department Detective Division at 845-569-7509. Investigators promise that all calls will be kept confidential.
