August 2022 Primary: Early Voting To Begin In Mid-Hudson Valley

Besides a few congressional primaries, there is a special election to fill the vacancy in Congressional District 19.

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — New York voters have one more primary in 2022 before the general election in November, and early voting is available.

The Aug. 23 primary will cover congressional and state senate elections plus a special election to fill a congressional vacancy.

There will be nine days of early voting before the primary. If you vote during the early voting period, you are not eligible to vote on Election Day.

For the August primary, early voting votes will be canvassed and reported after 9 p.m. Aug. 23.

The races on the ballot, depending on where you live, include a special election for Congressional District 19 to fill the vacancy that happened when Rep. Antonio Delgado became lieutenant governor. Pat Ryan will appear on the Democratic and Working Families lines and Marcus Molinaro will appear on the Republican and Conservative lines.

Other races include:

  • The Democratic primary for Congressional District 17 will be between Alessandra Biaggi and Sean Patrick Maloney.
  • The Republican primary for Congressional District 17 will be between Charles J. Falciglia, Michael V. Lawler, Jack W. Schrepel, Shoshana M. David and William G. Faulkner.
  • The Conservative primary for Congressional District 17 will be between William G. Faulkner and Michael V. Lawler.
  • The Democratic primary for Congressional District 18 will be between Pat Ryan, Moses Mugulusi and Aisha Mills.
  • The Democratic primary for Congressional District 19 is between Jamie Cheney and Josh Riley.

Dutchess County

In Dutchess County, you may vote early at any of the following locations:

  • Rhinebeck Town Hall, 80 E Market St, Rhinebeck
  • Fishkill Town Hall, 807 Route 52, Fishkill
  • Boardman Road Library, 141 Boardman Road, Poughkeepsie
  • Mid Hudson Library Auditorium, 105 Market St, Poughkeepsie
  • Cornell Cooperative Center, 2715 Route 44, Millbrook
  • East Fishkill Community Library, 348 Route 376, Hopewell Junction
  • Roosevelt Engine Company #3, 830 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park

The polls are open as follows:

  • Saturday, Aug. 13: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 14: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Monday, Aug. 15: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 16: Noon–8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 17: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 18: Noon–8 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 19: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 20: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 21: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Ulster County

In Ulster County, early voting can be done at any of six locations:

  • American Legion, 26-28 Mountain Rd., Shokan
  • Kingston High School, 403 Broadway, Kingston
  • Ellenville Public Library, 40 Center St., Ellenville
  • New Paltz Community Center, 3 Veterans Dr., New Paltz
  • Marlborough Town Hall, 21 Milton Turnpike, Milton
  • Saugerties Senior Center, 207 Market St., Saugerties

The polls are open as follows:

  • Saturday, Aug. 13: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 14: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Monday, Aug. 15: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 16: Noon–8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 17: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. (Marlborough only 9 a.m.–3 p.m.)
  • Thursday, Aug. 18: Noon–8 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 19: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 20: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 21: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Orange County

In Orange County, there are three sites where any county resident can vote early. They are:

  • City of Newburgh Activity Center, 401 Washington St., Newburgh
  • Delaware Engine Company #2, 22 Hammond St., Port Jervis
  • Middletown Senior Center, 62-80 W. Main St., Middletown

The hours for voting are as follows:

  • Saturday, Aug. 13: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 14: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Monday, Aug. 15: 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 16: Noon–8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 17: Noon–8 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 18: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 19: 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 20: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 21: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
