Body Of Missing Motorcyclist Found

The New York State Police said an unoccupied motorcycle led to a search for its missing driver.

DEERPARK, NY — An unoccupied motorcycle on the side of the road led to the discovery of the body of a missing motorcyclist.

The New York State Police said they were contacted by the Town of Deerpark Police Department around 9 p.m. Monday about finding an unoccupied motorcycle on the shoulder of Route 97 — The Hawk's Nest.

A search was conducted that night using state police aviation and a drone, but the search was stopped because of heavy fog.

Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, the search was resumed and the missing motorcyclist was found dead.

State police said this is an ongoing investigation.

The search was conducted by the state police along with Sparrowbush Fire Department, Port Jervis Fire Department, Lumberland Fire Department, Port Jervis EMS, Deerpark Police Department, Orange County Technical Rescue Team and U.S. Park Rangers.
