Body Recovered From Hudson River After 28-Year-Old Jumped From Bridge: NYSP

The Newburgh man jumped from a section of the Newburgh-Beacon bridge where the protective fencing is lower, according to police.

NEWBURGH, NY — Authorities have recovered the body of the man who jumped from a Hudson River bridge, according to New York State Police.

On Saturday, at 11:08 a.m., troopers from the Montgomery barracks were called to a report of someone who had jumped from the Newburgh–Beacon Bridge, in the town of Newburgh.

Police said that at 11:03 a.m., a 28-year-old Newburgh man jumped from a section of the bridge where the protective fencing is lower.

The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT) responded to the scene and recovered the body from the Hudson River at approximately 1:54 p.m. that day.

The New York State Police were assisted on scene by the Town of Newburgh Police Department, the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the City of Newburgh Fire Department, the Middle Hope Fire Department, and Town of Newburgh EMS.
