Bronx Woman Accused Of Setting April Townhouse Fires

Authorities have been investigating the Fishkill fires since April.

FISHKILL, NY — After five months, an arrest was made in the fires at the Village at Merritt Park townhouses in April.

The New York State Police said Inez Feliciano, 36, of Bronx, was accused of setting the fires April 18.

She was arrested Thursday and charged with four counts of second-degree arson and second-degree criminal mischief, all felonies.

Feliciano was arraigned in the Village of Fishkill Court And sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail $500,000 partially secure bond or $1 million bond.

A preliminary hearing for the case was scheduled for Monday.

Multiple fire departments responded to the fires around 10:15 p.m. April 18.

Authorities said seven back porches, which had paper products being stored for recycling, were set on fire at the 200, 400 and 800 buildings.

All the families living in the 200 building were displaced due to extensive damage.

Damage appeared mostly limited to the exterior of the 400 building, police said, while there was minor damage to the 800 building. Each building has 24 apartments.

All occupants were evacuated safely. No injuries were reported.
