Settle in for an intimate night of extraordinary songwriting as Valerie June comes to City Winery Hudson Valley on Wednesday, March 17. Rooted in folk, soul, blues, Americana, and generations of musical tradition, June’s songs offer what she describes as fresh medicinal downloads of love, sweetness, goodness, and joy.
Her remarkable career includes three best-selling solo albums, songwriting for Mavis Staples and The Blind Boys of Alabama, praise from Bob Dylan, and performances alongside John Prine, Norah Jones, Tyler Childers, Willie Nelson, Brandi Carlile, Robert Plant, Emmylou Harris, and many more.
Surrounded by the Hudson Valley, City Winery offers a fittingly intimate setting to experience Valerie June’s distinctive voice, soulful storytelling, and deeply original approach to American roots music.View Tickets & More Info

Hudson River Maritime Museum

Come to the Homeport Barn for this special screening of "The Keeper"! This screening will feature a talk with Jon Bowermaster and special guest John Lipscomb.
Like many rivers around the world – the Hudson, America's First River and the Birthplace of the American Environmental Movement – boomed as a growing human population used it for transportation, sustenance and, for many years, a dumping ground. The river paid a price for all this use and abuse, struggling against its share of contamination. For the past nearly three decades the river's poet laureate and literal "eyes on the river," Captain John, has been at the forefront of each of those fights, taking on industrial and human pollution, suffering the losses and celebrating victories.
While he has had successes on the Hudson, committing a life to protecting a river is a never-ending fight. Today, John Lipscomb is one of more than 300 “Keepers” around the globe, looking out for their respective rivers.

Vassar College Music Department - Skinner Hall

Oct. 30, 2026, 7:30 p.m.Location: Skinner Hall of Music
Six-time Grammy-nominated Skylark vocal ensemble presents Sleepy Hollow, a haunting musical retelling of Washington Irving’s beloved Hudson Valley ghost story. Conceived by Artistic Director Matthew Guard, the program blends narration, folk song, shape-note singing, part-song, and instrumental improvisation to evoke the world of Ichabod Crane, Brom Bones, and the legendary Headless Horseman.
Featuring narration by actor, singer, and educator Tynan Davis and atmospheric cello improvisations by Thomas Barth, Sleepy Hollow transforms Irving’s classic tale into an immersive journey through the folklore, music, and imagination of early America. By turns humorous, mysterious, and haunting, the performance brings one of the Hudson Valley’s most enduring legends vividly to life.
