Car Pulled From Hudson Contains Human Remains: UPDATE
Police said the vehicle was related to a missing person case from more than a decade ago.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A car pulled from the Hudson River during a police training exercise contained human remains. The state police said, around 7 p.m. Wednesday, a state police underwater recovery team was conducting sonar training and found a car about 75 feet from shore in about 24 feet of water.
The training exercise was on the Hudson River near Victor C. Waryas Park.
On Thursday, the car, identified as a blue Hyundai Accent, was recovered from the water by the recovery team with the help of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the Troop K Forensic Investigation Unit.

The car was found to be related to a missing person case filed with the Poughkeepsie city police in 2008.
After the car was removed to a secure location, the Dutchess County Medical Examiner's Office and the Troop K forensic unit discovered human remains inside.

Identification of the remains and manner of death will be pending a full investigation, police said.
