Ceremony Held To Honor Gunnery Sgt. Brendan Johnson Killed In MS Plane Crash
The public had a chance to pay their respects before the ceremony with full military honors.

FISHKILL, NY — U.S. Marine Corps gunnery Sgt. Brendan Johnson was planning to retire next year and move to Montana with his wife. Instead, a ceremony was held Thursday with full military honors in place of a public funeral in Fishkill.
More than 80 friends, family members, government officials, law enforcement, veterans and local residents paid tribute to Johnson, who was killed in a military plane crash, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.
Johnson was one of 16 military personnel killed in the crash July 10 of a refueling plane that spiraled and crashed in a field in Itta Bena, MS. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

He was born in Burlington, VT and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1994.
Johnson served for 23 years.
