The next chapter at <a href="https://www.millbrookwine.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Millbrook Vineyards &amp; Winery</a> is taking shape, as the Hudson Valley&rsquo;s flagship winery announces that Head Winemaker, Ian Bearup has been appointed general manager. In his dual role, Bearup will oversee all day-to-day operations of the winery, including strategy, team leadership, hospitality, sales and the guest experience, while continuing to direct the winery&rsquo;s acclaimed wine production. From vineyard coordination and harvest decisions to fermentation, blending and bottling, he will ensure the quality and character that define Millbrook&rsquo;s award-winning portfolio.

Prior to his role at Millbrook Winery, Bearup led the production at vineyards across the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast in California, the Willamette Valley in Oregon, and in New Zealand. His background also includes managing large-scale production, leading cellar teams, coordinating with clients and overseeing all aspects of lab analysis, fermentation and quality control &ndash; experience that positions him well to lead both the business and winemaking operations in his newly expanded position. 
Supporting this next phase is Millbrook Winery&rsquo;s owner, John Dyson, a Millbrook native, whose influence spans the American wine industry coast to coast. With deep pride in the region&rsquo;s grapes, Dyson is returning to help guide a renewed vision, one that honors the winery&rsquo;s heritage while embracing a more refined, Old World-inspired approach to both winemaking and the guest experience.

Gwynn of Fishkill, NY has joined the team as an associate attorney. He regularly appeared in court for arraignments and hearings, presented numerous cases to the grand jury and has meaningful trial experience. His work included prosecuting violent crimes, including assaults and weapons offenses, as well as domestic violence, sex offenses, child abuse and financial crimes. He worked closely with law enforcement on investigations and charging decisions.
A Hudson Valley native, Gwynn was born in Kingston and earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from The College of Saint Rose, where he served as assistant director of undergraduate admissions for more than a year following his graduation. He is admitted to the New York State Bar and enjoys running, boxing, volunteering with his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and occasionally performing stand-up comedy.

Marking a leadership transition within its community banking division in the Hudson Valley, <a href="https://www.tompkinsbank.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Tompkins Community Bank (Tompkins)</a> announced that Carol Schmitz, senior vice president and community banking manager, will retire after 24 years of service to the company. In anticipation of Schmitz&rsquo;s retirement in April 2026, Tompkins also announced that Kristen O&rsquo;Keeffe, currently community banking operations manager, will be stepping into the role of community banking division manager for the Hudson Valley market.
Schmitz joined Tompkins in 2002 as a manager at the Lagrange branch and held roles at the Brewster and Wappingers branches before ascending into her role as community banking manager. Throughout her two decades with Tompkins, Schmitz exemplified deep community involvement both through her leadership on the bank&rsquo;s contribution committee and through her own volunteer work as a board member for the American Heart Association, a dedicated volunteer with Dutchess Outreach and Habitat for Humanity and a member of the 2012 Leadership Dutchess class.
&ldquo;It is difficult to overstate the incredible role Carol has played in the growth and continued excellence of the Hudson Valley. O&rsquo;Keeffe joined Tompkins in 2003 and has held several roles throughout her 23-year tenure, most recently serving as community banking operations manager under Schmitz, where she oversaw the sales and operations of twelve Tompkins branches throughout the Hudson Valley.
