Clearing Out For Sunday: Poughkeepsie's Weekend Weather

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Once the Hudson Valley gets through Friday, it seems that the worst weather will be behind us. Yes, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms for Saturday, but it doesn’t seem it will reach the hazardous weather level of Friday.

Rain will clear out Saturday night, and Sunday looks to have the best weather of the weekend.

Don’t put your umbrellas completely out of the way, because more precipitation is on tap for next week beginning Tuesday.

Here is the forecast from the National Weather Service for the mid-Hudson Valley:

• Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. South wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Friday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then scattered showers. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
• Saturday: Isolated showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. Light northwest wind.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Light and variable wind.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.
