Clinton Man Faces Burglary, Assault, Theft Charges

Police said the man had broken into a business and the owners were trying to detain him.

PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — A 18-year-old Dutchess County man has been accused of burglarizing a business and assaulting one of its owners. State police said Kyle G. Ostrom, 18, of Clinton, was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree assault and fourth-degree grand larceny, all felonies.

Troopers responded around 9 a.m. May 7 to South Road and Main Street in the Town of Pleasant Valley for a fight in progress.

An investigation found that Ostrom had broken into the business and the owners were trying to detain him.

Police said Ostrom struck one of the owners in the head with a rock before they arrived on the scene.

It was also determined that Ostrom had used stolen credit cards from a prior incident, police said.

He was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail or $30,000 bond.
