John Mammano, a single father, was the sole survivor of a house fire on Monday that left his parents and three young children dead.

EAST DURHAM, NY — A crowdfunding account has been established to raise money for a single father in East Durham who lost his parents and three children in a house fire. John Mammano was with his parents and his three children on Monday morning when the blaze broke out at the home, located on state Route 145, a GoFundMe post said.

"He was on hard times and trying very hard to support his kids on how own," the poster wrote.

Mammano was the sole survivor. He suffered "massive burns" and remains hospitalized in the burn unit of a Syracuse hospital, the post said. His three kids, 12-year-old Jonathen, 9-year-old Jayden and 7-year-old Sophia were killed, along with Mammano's parents.
