Convicted Felon Arrested on Weapons, Drug Charges in Poughkeepsie: Police

A multi-agency investigation led to the execution of a search warrant.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A City of Poughkeepsie man, who police said is a convicted felon, was arrested Friday, July 29 for illegal weapons possession and on drug charges.

New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, in conjunction with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Neighborhood Recovery Unit, Members of SP Wappingers and NYSP Special Operations Response Team, conducted a narcotics investigation resulting in the execution of a search warrant at a Spoor Avenue address.

Police said Patrick R. Belding, 49, was found to be unlawfully in possession of two shotguns, one rifle and one fully loaded, high-capacity magazine for an assault weapon.

Police also said heroin, methadone, various drug paraphernalia and U.S. currency were seized.

Belding was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance (heroin), a felony, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
