Cops Make Drugged-Driving Arrest

On Sunday, members of Troop K, Zone One conducted a Fixed Sobriety Checkpoint in the vicinity of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge in Columbia County.

At about 8:40 p.m., Kellie L. Wyant, 48, passed through the roadcheck. Interviewed by troopers, Wyant showed signs of impairment, they said. Roadside sobriety tests were administered which the Ghent resident could not perform. She was taken into custody and transported to SP Livingston for processing.

She was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert and was subsequently found to be impaired by drugs, police allege. A blood sample was secured. Wyant was issued Appearance Tickets for Driving While Impaired by Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and is due Feb. 15 in Greenport Justice Court.
