County officials said the number of confirmed positive cases is expected to continue to increase.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A fifth Dutchess resident has died as a result of the new coronavirus. The Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health said a 68-year-old woman died at home Wednesday.

She had a history of underlying conditions and went to Vassar Brothers Medical Center late last week after not feeling well.

Officials said she returned home and was later informed of a positive COVID-19 test result drawn during her hospital visit.
