County Legislator Resigns, Replacement Wanted

Resumes are being accepted by the Poughkeepsie town supervisor.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Dutchess County legislator has resigned to become a deputy county commissioner, leaving the Town of Poughkeepsie to fill the vacancy. Ken Roman resigned effective Oct. 9 to be the new deputy commissioner for the county Department of Emergency Response.

Roman represents District 5 in the town, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

According to an email from the town, the procedure to fill the vacancy falls to the town board.

The new legislator must live in District 5.

Resumes from anyone interested in filling the vacancy will be accepted until the close of business Wednesday, Oct. 10.

The email from the town described the parameters of District 5:

Commences at the point where the southern border of the City of Poughkeepsie meets the Hudson River. Continues east and southeast along the City of Poughkeepsie/Town of Poughkeepsie border to Wilbur Blvd. South along Wilbur Blvd. to Spackenkill Road. West along Spackenkill Road to Flower Hill Road. South along Flower Hill Road and extending to Kingwood Park. South along Kingwood Park to Kingwood Park Intersection approximately 100 feet east of Main Drive. South and then west along Kingwood Park to South Road (Rt. 9). South along South Road (Rt. 9) to the northern border of Casperkill Country Club. East and then South along the border of Casperkill Country Club to Casper Creek. South along Casper Creek to South Road (Rt. 9). South along South Road (Rt. 9) to Spring Road. East along Spring Road to Vassar Road. North along Vassar Road to Jackson Road. East along Jackson Road to the Poughkeepsie/Wappinger town border. South along the Poughkeepsie/Wappinger town border to the Hudson River. North along to Hudson River to the point of origin.
