Disaster Prep Training Session Scheduled in Poughkeepsie

The county wants its residents to know how to react in a disaster and quickly recover.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Dutchess County will hold a Citizen’s Preparedness Training Program Monday, Nov. 21.

Led by the departments of Emergency Response and Behavioral and Community Health, the session will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Boardman Road Branch Library, 141 Boardman Rd. in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

Organizers said the two-hour training is designed to provide participants with the tools and resources to better prepare for any type of disaster.

Those who participate will learn how to respond in a disaster and to recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions.

The free event is open to the public.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Each family will receive a free Citizen Preparedness Corps Response Starter Kit.
