Doctor Accused of Illegally Selling Prescriptions Died of Cardiac Event

Dr. Alfred Ramirez was under house arrest and awaiting trial when his body was found in October.

GOSHEN, NY — The Hudson Valley doctor who was accused of illegally selling pain pill prescriptions and was found dead in his Orange County home Oct. 14 died of a cardiac event.

Toxicology tests on Dr. Alfred Ramirez found he had caffeine in his system when he died, and police do not suspect foul play, the Journal News said.

Ramirez was under house arrest and was awaiting trial on federal drug and conspiracy charges.

Authorities said an illegal operation run by the doctor was connected to the March 2015 death of a Yonkers teacher.
