Dog Abandoned On I-84, State Police Investigating

A crew from the DOT were going to mow in the area but heard the dog barking.

EAST FISHKILL, NY — State police are investigating a dog that was abandoned on Interstate 84 in the Town of East Fishkill. Around 10:30 a.m. July 24, a state Department of Transportation crew was getting ready to mow near mile marker 50 on I-84 when they heard what sounded like a dog barking in the nearby woods.

They found a young dog tied to tree. The dog also showed signs of prior neglect, police said.

With the help of the East Fishkill dog warden, the East Fishkill Police Department and the Dutchess County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the dog is now being care for.

However, the state police is attempting to determine who abandoned the dog there.
