Domestic Dispute Leads To Arrest For Violating Order Of Protection

After resisting arrest, the 24-year-old man damaged the door of a sheriff's patrol vehicle by kicking it repeatedly, police said.

ULSTER COUNTY, NY —The Ulster County Sheriff's Office said on Sunday that a 24-year-old man, from Highland, was arrested after violating on order of protection, resisting arrest, and damaging a sheriff's patrol vehicle.

The incident took place on September 8, shortly after 3 a.m., when deputies and members of the New York State Police Highland responded to a home on New Paltz Road in the Town of Lloyd after reports of a domestic dispute taking place.

Their investigation found that an order of protection prohibited the 24-year-old from being at the residence of a protected party.

During the incident, the man physically resisted arrest when being taken into custody by deputies and troopers. While in custody, he damaged the door of a sheriff’s patrol vehicle by kicking it repeatedly.

The 24-year-old was charged with felony third degree criminal mischief, misdemeanor second degree resisting arrest, misdemeanor second degree obstructing governmental administration, and misdemeanor second degree violation of harassment.
