Drug Raid At BBQ Restaurant Leads To Arrest Of 4-Time Felon: Police

The 55-year-old was charged with felony third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, according to City of Poughkeepsie police.

CITY OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A raid at a Hudson Valley restaurant found more than just barbecue on the menu, according to cops.

The City of Poughkeepsie Department says that after receiving complaints from the community, the Detective Division, through its Neighborhood Recovery Unit, with assistance from the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, conducted an investigation into suspected narcotics distribution linked to the Geneva's Blues House Southern BBQ Restaurant, on Hooker Avenue.

After the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the restaurant. On Thursday, the Neighborhood Recovery Unit and the Dutchess County Drug Task Force executed the search warrant at the business.

Authorities then seized narcotics and materials consistent with sales. They also arrested 55-year-old Carlos E. Wood, of the City of Poughkeepsie, and charged him with felony third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Wood, who police say is a four-time convicted felon, was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and held without bail.
