Dutchess Community College Received Grant For Aviation Program

The grant will support students pursuing careers in aviation maintenance.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Dutchess Community College was awarded a $450,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, D-Cold Spring, and Rep. Antonio Delgado, D-Rhinebeck, announced Thursday in a news release that the two-year college received the grant that will support students pursuing careers in aviation maintenance.

"Aviation maintenance is critical to our national security and function of the entire transportation system for years to come," Maloney said. "With this grant, DCC will help students start successful careers in this essential trade."

Delgado said he would keep fighting for programs that support trade students as they enter the workforce.

"Empowering young folks to take on an education and career in the aviation industry will support and maintain our county's transportation system for years to come," he said.

Dutchess Community College President Peter Grant thanked the two congressmen, as well as Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, for their commitment to the grant program.

"This funding in support of our new aviation maintenance technician programs allows us to be a driving force in meeting the workforce needs of the aviation industry," he said.
