Dutchess County Man Run Over By 2 Cars, Dies

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY — A Dutchess County man was died after being run over by two cars Saturday in New Jersey. Ryan O'Keefe, 36, of Wappingers Falls, was trying to cross a highway in Bergen County when he was hit first by a Subaru and then by a Chrysler.
Officers were dispatched around 9 p.m. to the stretch of Route 4 between Forest Avenue and Kinderkamack Road in Paramus on a report of a hit pedestrian, said Deputy Chief Robert Guidetti.
O'Keefe was crossing south on Route 4 West when he was hit in the highway's center lane first by the Subaru then by the Chrysler, Guidetti said.

Responding officers performed lifesaving measures on him, and he was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where he later died, the deputy chief said.
The crash remains under investigation and no complaints have been issued at this time, Guidetti said.

The deputy chief also pointed out that there is a pedestrian bridge near the scene of the incident, which is meant to "allow for pedestrians and bicyclists to safely cross a busy road without conflicts."
