Dutchess Man Accused Of Sexually Abusing Minor

Police said the abuse included the use of a firearm and alcohol.

PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — A Dutchess County man was accused of sexually abusing a minor.

The New York State Police said Matthew R. McClay, 23, of Pleasant Valley, was charged Feb. 17 with first-degree sex abuse forcible compulsion and first-degree reckless endangerment, felonies, and second-degree sex abuse, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and first-degree unlawful dealing with a child, misdemeanors.

Police said, subsequent to an investigation by the state police and the Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center, a warrant was granted for the search of a home on Route 44 in the town of Pleasant Valley.

Authorities said evidence was found leading to McClay's arrest for using a firearm and alcoholic beverages to facilitate the forcible sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 14.

McClay was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, $40,000 bond or $80,000 partially secure bond.

He was scheduled to reappear in court Monday, police said.
