2 Kids Killed in Bed by Dad Who Then Shot Himself

Authorities are investigating after two children and their father were found deceased on Fifth Avenue in Walkill in an apparent murder-suicide.

At about 5:25 p.m., Thursday, members of the State Police and the Wallkill Police Department responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive male in the 500 block of Fifth Ave.

Police located John Casullo, 48, deceased inside his home from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Two children, identified as James Casullo, 8, and Kathleen Casullo, 12, were also found deceased inside the home.

James and Kathleen were the children of John Casullo and each suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, police said. The investigation revealed John Casullo used a .45 cal pistol to murder each of his children while they slept in their bedrooms then turned the weapon on himself.

No other persons were at the residence at the time of the incident.

New York State Police along with assistance from the Town of Wallkill Police Department are investigating the incident.
