Fire Commissioners Order American Flags Removed from Trucks, Compromise Possible

Some said the flags on the back of firetrucks were a liability; others thought it was not a proper display.

ARLINGTON, NY — One day after the Arlington Board of Fire Commissioners had American flags removed from Arlington Fire District trucks there is talk of a compromise.

The flags, which were put on the trucks at the request of the union, were thought to be a liability by the divided board of commissioners, according to an article at Fox News, which added that the display could run contrary to the 1923 Federal Flag Code.

The chairman of the board of commissioners has contacted the district’s Chief Tory Gallente to have a discussion that might lead to a solution to the controversy, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
