Fire Department Treasurer Stole $400K From Company: NYSP

The theft came to the attention of the fire company's president after bills were found to be delinquent for several months.

MONROE, NY — A Hudson Valley fire department treasurer was accused of stealing company funds.

The New York State Police said Ian D. Harriton, 28, of Monroe, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree grand larceny, falsify business records and second-degree forgery, all felonies.

An investigation found that while Harriton was treasurer of the Monroe Lakeside Fire and Rescue Company, police said he stole more than $400,000 for personal use.

Harriton was released on an appearance ticket.
