Fishkill Search Warrant Yields Illegal Weapons

Two people were arrested and face felony charges.

FISHKILL, NY — A Fishkill couple faces felony charges after the execution of a search warrant yielded illegal weapons. State Police from the Cortlandt and Wappinger barracks searched a residence at Max Way in Fishkill in regard to a theft investigation involving Kim Amato, 44, of Fishkill.

The search turned up three illegal assault rifles with large capacity magazines, a stun gun, brass knuckles and a baton. Scott H. Strack, 48, of Fishkill, claimed ownership of the weapons, police said.

Strack was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, and three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, possession of large-capacity ammunition feed device, misdemeanors.

Amato was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Strack was arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail or $15,000 bond.

Amato was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Cortlandt Court Feb 22.
