Grace Pumpkin Parade Scheduled For Sunday In Poughkeepsie

The parade had been scheduled for Oct. 29 but was postponed due to the heavy rain.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Throughout Dutchess County, ghosts have been starching their white sheets, vampires flossing their fangs and witches stocking up on eye-of-newt, because the Grace Pumpkin Parade is back. Join Grace Smith House, Inc., Sunday, Nov. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Poughkeepsie for the annual Grace Pumpkin Parade where revelers celebrate the spookiest of seasons, enjoy local hot cider and raise funds to support Grace Smith House in empowering survivors of domestic violence and their families to live free from fear.

The parade was postponed from Sunday, Oct. 29 because of the nor'easter. It will marching through historic downtown Poughkeepsie from Pulaski Park to Waryas Park at the waterfront.

The parade includes costume contests in a variety of categories, including Little Monsters, Kids, Teens, Grown-Up Kids, Team Costumes and Hellhounds and Handlers. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed and most creative.

Clubs and community groups are encouraged to join the fun with team costumes. Participants are encouraged to design and drive floats in the parade, as well as fundraise through our online fundraising campaign.

All proceeds will benefit the Grace Smith House in their mission to help individuals and families live free from abuse, and support kids in taking a stand against bullying.

Food vendors and hot apple cider, donated by Barton Orchards, will be available after the parade. Music and performances will take place at Waryas Park at the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
