Hudson Valley Boasts Best Beer Store In NY

MAMARONECK, NY — What would a Super Bowl party be without beer? Sure, there are others beverages, but nothing says annual sporting event than beer for many people. It goes with everything — wings, chips, guacamole, hoagies, you name it — especially considering the variety of beers available now.

Chosing a trusted beer store can be a problem, though. You want to know they care as much for good brews as you do.

The editors at Men’s Journal have done the heavy lifting beverage-wise and come up with a list of “The 50 Best Beer Stores in America” to help you out.

The picked what they considered the best beer store in each state, and for New York, the best is conveniently in the Hudson Valley.

And making it even more convenient there are two locations — one in Mamaroneck and one in Poughkeepsie.

Half Time Beverage is not only an online retailer for beer, but its two locations each have about 2,000 different beers ready for you to purchase on the spot.

“New York is awash with beer boutiques run by incredibly passionate and knowledgeable folks, but nobody offers quite the breadth of beers that Half Time offers while matching the service of a smaller shop,” Men’s Journal said.

Having been to both locations, this reporter can vouch for the the stores’ quantity and quality.

You can refill growlers; Poughkeepsie currently has 12 beers on tap, with 22 in Mamaroneck. Customers can build a box of beer or a six pack just by walking down the aisles.

For the home brewer, there are beer supplies and kits.

Half Time Beverage is located at 2290 South Rd. (Route 9) in Poughkeepsie and 139 Hoyt Ave. in Mamaroneck.
