HV Man Accused In Capitol Riot Pleads For Release From Jail
The Sullivan County native was arrested at his home in Newburgh 10 days after the events of Jan. 6.

NEWBURGH, NY — The Newburgh man who was arrested after he was accused of taking part in the Jan. 6 siege of the United States Capitol is asking to be released from jail because his lawyers said he poses no public danger or flight risk.
Alternatively, Edward Lang, 26, wants to be allowed to have a laptop in his cell so he can help his attorneys defend him, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
According to prosecutors, Lang fought officers defending an entrance to the Capitol for almost two and a half hours.

The Sullivan County native was arrested at his Newburgh home Jan. 16. The home was searched for evidence by the FBI.
In a court filing in April, a 27-page catalog of more than 1,000 photos, online posts and video clips related to Lang was submitted by an assistant U.S. attorney, the Times Herald-Record reported.
