Newburgh Man Accused In Capitol Riot

Edward Lang is second person in the Hudson Valley to be arrested in connection with the violence in Washington, D.C.

NEWBURGH, NY — A Newburgh man was accused of being involved in the Jan. 6 siege of the United States Capitol.

Edward Lang was arrested at his home Saturday, NBC New York reported.

His Newburgh home was searched by the FBI for evidence in connection with the rioting in Washington, D.C.

Lang is expected to appear in White Plains federal court Tuesday, NBC New York said.

William F. Sweeney Jr., the assistant director in charge of the FBI, said, in a statement the FBI will continue to track down and hold accountable those who participated in the riot.

"Decisions have consequences," he said. "Edward Lang is in custody for the ones he made during the assault on our Capitol."

Lang is the second person in the Hudson Valley to be arrested in connection with the Capitol riot.

Beacon resident Will Pepe, 31, was taken into custody Tuesday after being investigated by the FBI for his involvement in the siege.

Pepe works at the Brewster Metro-North rail yard and called out sick to attend the Jan. 6 event.

The MTA suspended him without pay after finding out about the FBI investigation.
