I-87 Stop Leads To Arrest, Felony Weapons Charges For Upstate Man: NYSP

The 27-year-old didn't have a valid driver's license, and was in possession of a loaded, illegal Raven Arms .22 caliber handgun, police say.

TOWN OF ROSENDALE, NY — A traffic violation turned into the felony arrested of an unlicensed driver in Ulster County, according to NYSP.

The New York State Police say that on Jan. 28, around 12:29 p.m., members of the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit pulled over a 2025 Nissan traveling south on I-87, in the Town of Rosendale, for traffic violations. The driver and only occupant, identified as Daizion L. Conners, of Albany.

During their investigation, troopers discovered that the 27-year-old did not have a valid driver's license, and was in possession of a loaded, illegal Raven Arms .22 caliber handgun.

He was arrested and taken to State Police Highland for processing, according to state police.

Conners was charged with felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (loaded firearm); felony third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (previous conviction); felony criminal possession of a firearm; and several uniform traffic tickets.

He was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court, where bail was set at $50,000 cash, $100,000 bond, or $150,000 partially secured bond.

Conners is scheduled to appear in the Town of Rosendale Court on Feb. 12.
