Local Rotary Coat Drives Benefit Catholic Charities
The coats were distributed to families in need by the Catholic Charities.
GOSHEN, NY — Both the Rotary Club of Goshen and the Rotary Club of Warwick selected Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster to be the beneficiary of their winter coat drives for 2020.
The clubs’ annual community service projects collected nearly 400 coats between the two organizations.
Michael Peters, resource exchange coordinator for Catholic Charities said that with the cold weather upon us, Catholic Charities has been receiving a growing number of requests for assistance with warm winter coats

“We are grateful for the support from the Rotary Club of Goshen and the Rotary Club of Warwick," he said. "Their members’ commitment to fulfilling Rotary’s mission of ‘service before self’ is making a difference for community members who are facing challenges this winter.”
The assortment of new and gently used coats for both children and adults are being distributed by Catholic Charities’ staff to area individuals and families in need, according to a spokesperson.

Those seeking assistance with winter coats or other basic necessities should email Catholic Charities’ regional helpline.
Each year, the demand for children’s coats is greater than the supply, organizers said. To make a monetary donation toward the purchase of new coats for children, email Kristin Jensen or call her at 845-294-5124, ext. 1005. Donations may also be made securely online — and indicate “winter coat drive” in the notes.
