Man Accused Of Driving Drunk With Infant In Car

Police said the man's license was revoked because of a previous alcohol-related offense.

MONROE, NY — A Monroe man with an infant in his car was accused of drunken driving. The New York State Police said troopers stopped a 2013 BMW going west on Route 17 in Monroe around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday for vehicle and traffic law violations.

The driver, Mark Nelson, 30, of Monroe, was found to be intoxicated and driving with a suspended license, police said.

Further investigation revealed that the man's license was revoked because of a previous alcohol-related offense and he was required to have an interlock steering device, according to authorities.

Police said Nelson was driving the car with an infant inside.

He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and aggravated driving while intoxicated (Leandra's Law), a felony.

Nelson was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Monroe Court Aug. 10.
